Who knew stones could make you feel so soft? Enliven Bodyworks and Acupuncture specializes in helping you relax the city life away.

For quite a reasonable price, this spa on 60th Street between Lexington and Park is truly a hidden wonder. Nowhere else in Manhattan are you going to find a massage treatment of this caliber under $40. With competing spa massage treatments running at least $60 to $70 and package deals running well over $200, Enliven sets itself apart by offering treatments and packages ranging between $25 and $150.

The floor space of the spa, set in dim detail helps, the clientele relax away the stress of city living. Small lit candles, nature sounds, and soft comfy couches are all around the reception area. The staff doesn’t hesitate to make you feel comfortable. You’re warmly welcomed the moment you enter the spa and, while waiting for your appointment, they provide light lemon water for you to sip on to help start your relaxing treatment.

Established in July of 2005, Enliven Bodyworks and Acupuncture was a mother-daughter venture that sprung up almost instantly. “The space opened up and we had to take it,” says manager, Jessie Chen. Enliven is the brainchild of her mother, Helen, who is also the head therapist at the spa. Their staff includes trained professionals in deep tissue massage, reflexology and acupuncture.

This spa is great for bringing your best girlfriends for a getaway after work or school. Enliven can accommodate groups of clients as long as there is an appointment made beforehand. Hours of operation are extended to handle loyal clientele of residents, employees in the locale, and shoppers from Madison Avenue and Bloomingdales. The spa provides a truly enlivening experience that will leave you wanting more. “It’s like they know what’s wrong before you do,” says Chen. Enliven specializes in providing a therapeutic, relaxing and healing experience. Suffering from chronic carpal tunnel syndrome, I realized that I couldn’t feel my wrist hurting after my treatment almost one week ago. It’s not a permanent cure though, several days after the massage treatment, the recurring CTS was making my wrist twinge once again.

A second appointment was imperative, especially since New York’s Spa Week is coming up in October and hour long treatment specials are only $50. The client has a choice between an hour long hot stone massage, deep tissue massage, and a foot reflexology treatment.

Make sure to book soon. During spa week, Enliven books over 400 appointments because of the specials. Know what you want beforehand, so you can get the treatment you’re looking for. Although there may be a bit of a language barrier, the level of care and dedication you receive at Enliven Bodyworks and Acupuncture is unmatched in the city.

New York Spa Week runs from October 15th to October 21st. Enliven’s $50 specials are extended through October 28th, so book as soon as possible.

Take a deep breath, close your eyes and let yourself be rejuvenated. This is a day spa you don’t want to miss out on.
