Here come the 90s. The New York City Office of Emergency Management and Department of Health and Mental Hygiene today advise that extremely hot weather is forecast through this weekend.

NYC is in for another heat wave this weekend, with temperatures due to climb into the 90s for the next few days. To assist New Yorkers during the heat, cooling centers will be open in all five boroughs Friday, July 18, through Sunday, July 20. Cooling centers are public places, such as senior centers and community centers, where air conditioning is available. Call 311 or visit OEM’s website (http://www.nyc.gov/oem) starting Friday to find the nearest cooling center.

New Yorkers should hydrate, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and stay in the shade when outside. Remember to check on neighbors who may need assistance. Seniors, young children, and people with special needs are particularly susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
