Just When You Thought You Had Read Them All: Another JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM Pre-review

Sequels to the left. Sequels to the right. The 2018 Season of Sequels has been upon us.  Get ready for JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM, opening June 22.

Falling Kingdom is directed by J. A. Bayona and will be the fifth in the Jurassic Park franchise known for its violence and human interactions with velociraptors, T-Rexes, Pterodactyls and Pteranodonresultings in incredible chase scenes though I must admit, the individual plots have become increasingly complex over the years.

The first Jurassic Park was released in 1993, the sequel in 1997, and its sequel in 2001. The public had been led to believe that it would never see another Jurassic film until JURASSIC WORLD was released in 2015, starting a new trilogy. Jurassic World redefined the series in a number of ways, bringing fiercer man-woman eaters, bigger explosions and more compelling stories.

[My editor says that as part of upping the ante, there will be scenes of those big-fang predators gobbling up kids. Before you cringe, recall the 1975 JAWS scene that shook us (click here if you don’t) and check out this link too.]

FALLING KINGDOM reveals a new plot that further pushes the boundaries of dinosaur-dining-on-people violence with plenty of special effects and action scenes to leave audiences reeling. Truth be told, these flesh eaters are taking over the territory that once belonged to Carcharodon carcharias AKA Great White Sharks.

FALLING KINGDOM also introduces the creatures to new environments. The trailer also generates nostalgia by bringing back characters from the original movie, such as Jeff Goldblum’s character.

What are the expectations? The 2010s had a multitude of reboots and some were flops. Yet, even well received movies can be rejected by diehard loyalists of the original movies. However, this is not the first movie of the trilogy and JURASSIC WORLD did fairly well, so I think it would be safe to assume that filmmakers ahve been hard at work to make the sequel even better.

I am a fan of each movie in the series. JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM, should continue the trend of successful Jurassic films. This film you will want to see in the theater before you see it again and again at home.
