I actually just found out some good news about an acting project that I\u2019ll have to keep under wraps for now! But in my day-to-day, my wife and I are owners of a production company in Los Angeles where we specialize in actor services like headshots, audition taping and reel scenes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_28888\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-28888\" class=\"size-full wp-image-28888\" src=\"https:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/tyler-pic-150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"152\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-28888\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tyler Ham Pong<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;We have our annual \u201cHeadshot Day\u201d coming up on April 20th where we offer discounted headshot rates for those who snag a spot. Look us up at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.killthepigproductions.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kill the Pig Productions!<\/a><\/strong> Lastly, I\u2019m developing a feature horror film called, \u201cThe Nevada Triangle.\u201d I was recently able to workshop some of the screenplay at the Asian American Film Lab\u2019s Unfinished Works screenplay reading series.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><center><strong>Tyler Ham Pong Award Winning Short, &#8220;The Real McCoy&#8221;<\/strong><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Real McCoy | A Kill the Pig Original\" width=\"860\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/10I6KOq5rHg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s happening, planned, going on for 2024? \u2013<\/strong> This year\u2019s 72 Hour Shootout has some returning sponsors, judges and mentors, along with some exciting new additions that have yet to be announced! But once again, we\u2019re encouraging actors, filmmakers, and artists to sign up and make a film in under 72 hours.<\/p>\n<p><b>Expectations? Anything you are especially excited about? Any special challenges? How did the theme &#8220;Joyful Resistance&#8221; come about? Under the umbrella of mental health? <\/b><span class=\"gmail-s2\">\u2013 <\/span>It\u2019s always exciting to announce the theme each year and see how the contestants react and are able to adapt it to their film submission.<\/p>\n<p>When I was the Shootout Coordinator in 2020, it was the height of the pandemic and I chose the theme \u201cGoing Viral.\u201d Not only did it reference Covid and the increased \u201cAsian hate\u201d surrounding the derogatory term \u201cChina Virus\u201d \u2014 but it also referenced social media, which became a very important form of community during the Shootout\u2019s \u201cIsolation Edition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"gmail-s2\">We hope that each year\u2019s theme is able to encourage filmmakers to explore societal issues and comment on the world around us. <span style=\"color: #000000;\">I\u2019m sure this year\u2019s will be equally challenging and thought-provoking, but you\u2019ll have to come to the Launch Party in June to find out what it is.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What blew my mind about 72 was the savvy militancy of its \u201cmission statement.\u201d Has that created extra challenges? \u2013 <\/strong>When I first started participating in the competition, I would get excited when Summer rolled around because I knew I\u2019d be making a movie. I just didn\u2019t know what. After a while, I became pretty savvy with the rules. Yes, the stipulations can sometimes be challenging, but they\u2019re meant to encourage rather than stump you. And in what may seem like a contradiction, the time limit may also free you.
