One, Chen Pan, 22, a sophomore who hasn\u2019t declared a major yet, described what he said was an unhinged professor who locked him out of classroom just moments before he was interviewed for this article early in the semester. Pan, 22, also\u00a0 spoke of his two biggest worries one the Hunter sky bridge connecting the North and West buildings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31414\" src=\"https:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/campus-protest-IMG_5542.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/campus-protest-IMG_5542.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/campus-protest-IMG_5542-300x128.jpg 300w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/campus-protest-IMG_5542-768x328.jpg 768w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/campus-protest-IMG_5542-560x239.jpg 560w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/campus-protest-IMG_5542-260x111.jpg 260w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/campus-protest-IMG_5542-160x68.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefinitely school,\u201d he said, \u201cmy grade is not that good so I\u2019m trying to bring up that grade.\u201d Pan was hesitant, his face expressed uncertainty until he was asked which class worried him the most. His expression quickly turned into a face of frustration. Pan spoke of his experience with a professor that happened right before the interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe professor closed the goddamn door,\u201d he said, \u201clike within the five minutes of class starting. So you can\u2019t go in and you can\u2019t go out.\u201dPan was locked out of his women and gender studies class. Pan also said that students who left class to use the restroom were told by the professor to \u201cnot to come back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that he had just been locked out today for the class that runs from 1 p.m-2:15 p.m. \u201cI was like close to 10 minutes late but the door was already fucking closed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_24779\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-24779\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-24779\" src=\"https:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/KiraScott-2-IMG_0673pub-300x165.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/KiraScott-2-IMG_0673pub-300x165.jpg 300w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/KiraScott-2-IMG_0673pub-768x423.jpg 768w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/KiraScott-2-IMG_0673pub-560x309.jpg 560w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/KiraScott-2-IMG_0673pub-260x143.jpg 260w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/KiraScott-2-IMG_0673pub-160x88.jpg 160w, http:\/\/hunterword.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/KiraScott-2-IMG_0673pub.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-24779\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students studying in campus Library, Picture by Kira Scott.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Abby Guastella, 19, a sophomore who hasn\u2019t decided on a major, described her worries about her classes, saying, \u201cI have so many answers, stresses at college for one.\u201d Sitting on the fifth floor of the Hunter library, she spoke of her struggles retrieving a copy of a film she worked on for a classmate in the 2024 spring semester.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI deserve a copy of my work,\u201d she said, \u201cI worked for free, the least I can get is a copy of the film.\u201d Guastella also spoke of her dissatisfaction with the New York City public transportation system and what she said was the littering problem in New York City, calling them \u201cbad.\u201d Guastella commutes from Staten Island where she lives.<\/p>\n<p>Lamont Jackson, a 26-year-old media studies major with a concentration in journalism, said he had one clear pressing issue. \u201cI want to raise awareness to Christian persecution.\u201d Jackson, interviewed in Room 470 HD, spoke passionately about a crusade. He said he wants to be to cover Christian persecution as a journalist who \u201cgoes to the areas most effected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These areas include countries in the Middle East like Yemen, Iran and Iraq as well as in Africa like Nigeria, Libya, and Somalia where the prosecution of Christians occurs.\u00a0 Jackson also said he plans to own his business after he graduates. \u201cI\u2019ve tried e-books,&#8221; he said about one business endeavor, &#8220;but now I\u2019m pivoting to Internet radio podcasting on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patreon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Patreon.<\/a>\u201d He also said he has plans of starting a podcast focused on professional wrestling or mixed martial arts.<\/p>\n<p>In the interview, He praised the efforts of <a href=\"https:\/\/lausanne.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lausanne.org,<\/a> lauding it as \u201cthe Avengers of Christian evangelism.\u201d For 50 years their movement has worked to spread Christianity and collaborate with Christian leaders around the world. <em>With a rich history spanning over five decades, the Lausanne Movement has been at the forefront of global mission through fostering Christian collaboration, platforming missional strategy, and equipping leaders and influencers to fulfil the Great Commission,<\/em> is a statement on the organization&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p>This writer is a senior in his last semester and graduating is his most pressing issue. Going into these interviews, I was expecting each student to have pressing issues solely related to their studies at Hunter as I was so focused on my own worries about graduating. But to my surprise, I learned of issues and concerns I hadn&#8217;t expected.
