\nAbout the Justice League<\/a><\/p>\n

Yesterday we woke up to the news of yet another unspeakable tragedy.\u00a0 We cannot imagine the grief of the 59 families who have lost their loved ones, or the fear and concern for the more than 500 injured.\u00a0 Our prayers and condolences to all those in pain.<\/p>\n

While we share in the anguish of the victims, their families and the entire Las Vegas community struggling for peace \u2013 we must speak up about the epidemic of American gun proliferation.\u00a0 We can not be silenced by those who have compromised their humanity for dollars.\u00a0 We will not allow those responsible for these tragedies to say \u201cthis is not the time for politics\u201d.<\/p>\n

This IS the time.\u00a0 And the NRA is responsible.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When the National Rifle Association launched a vicious and dangerous attack on our board member Tamika Mallory this summer, Justice League NYC responded immediately.\u00a0 Days later we joined Women\u2019s March in leading NRA2DOJ \u2013 a 19 mile march from the NRA in Virginia to the DOJ in Washington DC.\u00a0 We marched for the 20 children murdered in Newton, Connecticut.\u00a0 We marched for the 49 victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting.\u00a0 We also marched for Philando Castile \u2013 a legal gun owner who was killed by police in Minnesota \u2013 and for whom the NRA gave not one syllable of support.<\/p>\n

The NRA doesn\u2019t care about gun owners \u2013 they are not a rights organization.\u00a0 They are a lobbying organization in the business of gun proliferation.\u00a0 That\u2019s why 3% of Americans own 50% of the nation\u2019s guns.\u00a0 That\u2019s why the average US gun owner owns at least 10 guns.\u00a0 <\/em>The NRA is in the business of making money. \u00a0And the Republicans in Congress are complicit in this American genocide.\u00a0 The GOP takes millions in literal \u2018blood money\u2019 from the NRA each year — and they return those dollars in obstruction.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t have the answers yet, but we will not rest until the NRA releases its ungodly hold on America\u2019s lawmakers.\u00a0 This is a test of our collective humanity, and the strength of our resolve.\u00a0 We believe in the power of our people.<\/p>\n
