Night Shyamalan, and more"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>2021 Tribeca Film Festival ***Post Media Alert*** for June 18, 2021<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The tenth day of the 2021 Tribeca Festival, presented by AT&amp;T, brought together the cast of <em>Fargo<\/em> in-person for their 25th Anniversary Reunion and featured the red carpet premiere of HBO Max and Warner Bros.<\/p>\n<p>Pictures\u2019 highly-anticipated crime drama <em>No Sudden Move<\/em>. It also included a sneak preview of the upcoming documentary <em>Turning The Table<\/em>, the debut of Procter &amp; Gamble\u2019s 8:46 films as part of Tribeca\u2019s wide-spanning Juneteenth programming, Tribeca X panels celebrating the intersection of entertainment and marketing for the first in-person gathering, along with leading industry talks and fan-favorite stars.<\/p>\n<p>The Battery hosted the premiere of Tribeca\u2019s 2021 Centerpiece Gala selection, director <strong>Steven Soderbergh\u2019s <\/strong>new crime drama <strong><em>No Sudden Move<\/em><\/strong> (debuting on HBO Max July 1, 2021). Cast members <strong>Don Cheadle<\/strong>, <strong>Benicio Del Toro<\/strong>, <strong>David Harbour<\/strong>, <strong>Ray Liotta<\/strong>, <strong>Jon Hamm<\/strong>, <strong>Amy Seimetz<\/strong>, <strong>Brendan Fraser<\/strong>, <strong>Noah Jupe<\/strong>, <strong> Julia Fox<\/strong>, <strong>Frankie Shaw<\/strong>, and <strong>Bill Duke<\/strong> walked the carpet along with Soderbergh, writer <strong>Ed Solomon<\/strong>, and producer <strong>Casey Silver<\/strong>. It was a big ask on their part,\u201d <strong>Soderbergh<\/strong> was quoted as saying as he introduced the film to the sold out Tribeca Festival audience.<\/p>\n<p>For this 45-minute preview of upcoming documentary feature<strong> <em>Turning The Table<\/em> <\/strong>from director <strong>Matthew Miele<\/strong> and key cast including restaurateur <strong>Melba Wilson<\/strong>, <strong>Geoffrey Zakarian <\/strong>and <strong>Eric Ripert<\/strong> joined the director and producers <strong>Anne Chertoff-Tavelin<\/strong>, <strong>Jaret Keller<\/strong>,<strong> Berry Welsh <\/strong>and <strong>John Molner <\/strong>to share a sneak peak of the work in progress restaurant surviving during the global pandemic followed by a panel led by <strong>Katie Couric<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paula Weinstein<\/strong>, Chief Content Officer, Tribeca Enterprises welcomed P&amp;G Chief Brand Officer, <strong>Marc Pritchard <\/strong>to the Tribeca stage for his second consecutive night introducing the latest work from the brand\u2019s <strong>Widen the Screen<\/strong> film program, <strong>8:46 Films<\/strong>, created by black creative group Saturday Morning and produced by Tribeca Studios with aims to improve portrayal of Black life on screen and expand inclusion efforts for Black creators both behind the camera and on screen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe spent a lot of time talking about the 8 minute and 46 second video we saw last year. It changed the world and connected us in a way that we could have never imagined,\u00a0 <strong>Kwame Hayford<\/strong>, co-founder of Saturday Morning, was quoted as saying. \u201cWe turned pain into progress. Instead of pain and negativity, we channeled that into joy. The Black experience has so many important stories and those stories are the stories that will take us into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zoey Martinson<\/strong>, Director of <strong><em>Cupids<\/em><\/strong>, <strong>Camrus Johnson<\/strong>, director<strong> <em>She Dreams at Sunrise<\/em><\/strong><em>,\u00a0<\/em><strong>Gibrey Allen<\/strong>, director of <strong><em>Pearl and Henry<\/em><\/strong><em>, <\/em>and <strong>Marshall Tyler<\/strong>, director of <strong><em>Slow Pulse<\/em><\/strong><em>, <\/em>debuted their films and shared what it was like to create during the Global Pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Best Picture Oscar winner <strong><em>Fargo,<\/em><\/strong> film producer <strong>Joel Coen<\/strong> participated in a conversation with <strong>Frances McDormand, <\/strong>who won the Oscar for Best Actress with her performance in the film, and <strong>Steve Buscemi.<\/strong> The in-person panel spoke to the history of the film, how the actors felt while re-watching themselves 25 years later and teased Coen and McDormand\u2019s next project, the upcoming \u201cTragedy of Macbeth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The spotlight documentary, <strong><em>Choice of Weapons: Gordon Parks, <\/em><\/strong>made its world premiere tonight, which follows photographer and filmmaker <strong>Gordon Parks<\/strong>, best known for his iconic portraits of everyday Black Americans in all their pain, ordinariness and glory. Parks shot everything from fashion to Malcolm X, Gloria Vanderbilt and Muhammed Ali. Director <strong>John Maggio<\/strong>, producer <strong>Monica Berra<\/strong> and subject <strong>Devin Allen, <\/strong> \u00a0producer <strong>George Kunhardt<\/strong>, producer <strong>Peter Kunhardt<\/strong>, producer <strong>Teddy Kundhart<\/strong>, producer <strong>Jelani Cobb<\/strong>,\u00a0 editor <strong>Maleeka Weeden<\/strong>, and writer\/filmmaker <strong>Nelson George<\/strong>, attended the photocall.<\/p>\n<p>To kick off this world premiere, series creator, Valerie Armstrong introduced AMC\u2019s <strong><em>Kevin Can F*** Himself <\/em><\/strong>and expressed her gratitude to the series cast and crew for their willingness to make a show during the pandemic. Cast and filmmakers enthusiastically sat through the screening despite the heat at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hudsonyardsnewyork.com\/discover\/public-square-and-gardens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hudson Yards Public Square.<\/a> Talent all in attendance: <strong>Annie Murphy<\/strong>, <strong>Mary Hollis Inboden<\/strong>, <strong>Eric Petersen<\/strong>, <strong>Valerie Armstrong<\/strong>, <strong>Craig DiGregorio<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also at Spring Studios, filmmaker <strong>M. Night Shyamalan<\/strong> participated in a Tribeca Talk as part of Tribeca\u2019s Director Series providing a glimpse into this visionary director\u2019s artistic process across his career from <em>The Six Sense<\/em>, <em>Unbreakable<\/em>,<em> Signs<\/em>, <em>The Village<\/em>, <em>The Visit<\/em>, <em>Split<\/em>, <em>Servant<\/em>, and his upcoming film <em>Old<\/em>. Actor Alex Wolff (<em>Old) <\/em>moderated the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>TFF Shorts Programmers <strong>Sharon Badal <\/strong>and <strong>Ben Thompson<\/strong> introduced the evening\u2019s shorts program, \u201cStraight Up With a Twist\u201d\u00a0 as the sun set over Hudson Yards, noting the \u201cwacky,\u201d yet humorous finalists screening tonight. Cast and crew were in attendance for their premieres of <strong><em>The Cocktail Party<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Molly Robber<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>The Last Marriage<\/em><\/strong><em>, <strong>The Bouncer<\/strong>, <strong>Girl With a Thermal Gun, <\/strong><\/em>and <strong><em>Two Jacked.<\/em><\/strong> Actress <strong>Margarette Qualley, <\/strong>friends of the shorts filmmakers, was in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>At Brooklyn Commons at MetroTech, the series of shorts in <strong><em>Don\u2019t Look Back <\/em><\/strong>showcase that one thing in life is guaranteed- every decision has a consequence. Writer\/director <strong>Jefferson Stein<\/strong>, producers <strong>Liz Cardenas, Russel Sheaffer <\/strong>and <strong>Corey Howard<\/strong>, executive producers <strong>Larry \u201cBear\u201d Wilson <\/strong>and <strong>Douglas Riggs<\/strong>, editor <strong>R. Brett Thomas <\/strong> and actress <strong>Amaya Juan<\/strong> of <strong><em>Burros<\/em><\/strong><em>; <\/em>director and filmmaker <strong>Letia Solomon <\/strong>and screenwriter <strong>Wes Akwuobi <\/strong>of <strong><em>The Cypher<\/em>; <\/strong>director <strong>Thais Drassinower <\/strong>of <strong><em>The Catch;<\/em><\/strong> and <strong>Ben Ellenberg <\/strong>of <strong><em>Saria <\/em><\/strong>were all in attendance for the photocall.<\/p>\n<p>At the premiere of the documentary thriller <strong><em>Enemies of the State<\/em>, <\/strong>director <strong>Sonia Kennenbeck<\/strong> and producer <strong>Ines Hofman Kanna<\/strong> attended the photocall at Brooklyn Commons at MetroTech. The thriller explores the story of a military family caught in a web of bizarre happenings when son Matt becomes an FBI target.<\/p>\n<p>Jean-Cosme Delaloye, who moved to New York City during the festival\u2019s inaugural year, introduced his film <strong><em>Harley<\/em><\/strong> and shared his thanks with the star of the documentary Harley Breite who was in attendance along with his mother along with those who came out to support the film. Following the movie Jean-Cosme and Harley shared the relationship that led to the creation of the documentary and Harley noted that they went into the creative process looking to show that we\u2019re all fighting something.<\/p>\n<p>Tribeca continued its tradition of opening submissions to independently produced TV pilots. Today, Tribeca debuted the 2020 program featuring a diverse mix of stories and creators that bring the spirit of independent film to the episodic space. Screenings included <strong><em>Unemployable<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Magic Hour<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Pretty People<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Deceased Ones<\/em><\/strong>, and <strong><em>Becoming a Man in 127 EASY Steps.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At the rooftop of Spring Studios, <strong>Tribeca X, <\/strong>in partnership with <strong>Roku, Inc. <\/strong>(NASDAQ: ROKU) celebrated the intersection of entertainment and marketing for the first in-person gathering of leading marketing minds since the global pandemic. CEO Tribeca Enterprises and Co-Founder Tribeca Festival,\u00a0 <strong>Jane Rosenthal <\/strong>opened up the day with her remarks \u201cI want to take a moment to appreciate that we\u2019re really together in the same room\u2026 I mean, roof\u201d which were met with laughter and applause. The day started with conversations featuring <strong>Anthony Wood<\/strong>, Founder and Chairman of Roku the day\u2019s sponsor.
