It\u2019s not long now until the Human Rights Watch Film Festival returns to Film at Lincoln Center and IFC Center in New York – and streaming to your homes across the U.S. from May 20-26. This year\u2019s festival includes 18 in-person screenings in NYC followed by Q&As featuring directors, film participants, and more.<\/p>\n

The festival opens with REBELLION, (Friday May 20, 7p.m. + streaming online from May 20-26)<\/a><\/strong>, the exhilarating behind-the-scenes story of Extinction Rebellion (XR), following the group as it takes daring steps to draw attention to the climate emergency \u2013 and confront both internal tensions and the harmful power structures present in the climate movement itself.<\/p>\n

Our Closing Night film, THE JANES (Thursday May 26, 7 p.m. and streaming online May 20-26)<\/a><\/strong>, showcases a group of brave and bold women, many speaking on the record for the first time, who built an underground, clandestine network in 1970s Chicago for women seeking safe, affordable abortions at a time when it was illegal.<\/p>\n
