Jason Lewery, 25, an English major and a senior, said his first few weeks this semester were \u201cgood.\u201d His classes, he said, that were \u201cno struggle, not too hard.\u201d Lewrey was one of four who said in their interviews for this article that their academic loads at the start of this academic year weren\u2019t that heavy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like my teachers and I\u2019m interested in what I\u2019m learning,” he said. He also said, \u201cMy favorite class right now is Workshop in Non-Fiction 1 because I really enjoy the class exercises.\u201d He doesn’t like the commute. \u201cCommuting from school is tough, it takes me 45 minutes,” he also said.\u201d He was interviewed in the C level basement of the North Building, and said he was shy but agreed to have his picture taken but not with him facing the camera. He wore his hat backwards and wore a plaid shirt and sported a black book bag.<\/p>\n

Karly Weinreb, a psychology graduate student, 25, said that the Hunter graduate school was \u201cgood but overwhelming.\u201d She also said, \u201cIt is weird to be back in school, but I like my classes. My favorite class is pro seminar research, it is about language.\u201d Although Weinreb did not attend Hunter as an undergraduate, she said she was \u201cenjoying\u201d the graduate program.<\/p>\n

It helps, she said, that her \u201cbest friend,\u201d Rebecca Saltznan, 25, enrolled in the School of Education, is here on campus. Saltznan said she was starting her graduate program full time \u201cwith a bang after being two years out of college. In her time off from school, she \u201ctutored, did teaching, and was a camp counselor,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The friends went to separate undergraduate programs but decided to go to the same campus for graduate school. They both wore black sweaters and pants, along with shoulder bags and small heels. They were interviewed in the West Building on the third floor. Neither wanted their pictures taken.<\/p>\n

Damaris Dedes, 22, English major, said she had a \u201cgood\u201d first few weeks. A downside, she said, was that \u201call my classes are English so there is a lot of writing, and a lot of money was spent on books.\u201d She also said, \u201cI was sick and fell behind but I was able to catch up.<\/p>\n

Besides the minor setback, Dedes said, \u201cMy teachers are cool and understanding, and they also joke a lot, lightening the mood up in class.\u201d She said, \u201cWorkshop in Fiction 1 for sure\u201d was her favorite class this semester. \u201cI like the opportunity to talk about character portrayal and interpreting the readings in whatever way I want. Also, this gives me a platform to let out all of my feelings through writing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dedes wore a grey Slytherin (Harry Potter) shirt, ripped jeans, black shoes and a shoulder bag. She was interviewed in the C floor section room 102 of the Hunter North Building. She also said that she didn’t like Hunter in general. She came here as a sophomore from John Jay College. Although she has her best friend here, she said it has been tough to make other friends. Also, she said, \u201cI\u2019m picky about food, and the food here sucks and is too expensive, unlike my former college.\u201d<\/p>\n
