Filmmaker, actor, musician and co-host of Trust Me, Lola Blanc is premiering her film, Pruning at the Palm Springs Shortfest 2023. PRUNING is being publicized as a psychological horror film about a right-wing commentator whose rhetoric inspires a violent event.

It stars Emmy-nominated Madeline Brewer (Handmaid’s Tale, Cam) and is produced and presented by Rustic Films whose previous films include SYNCHRONIC, THE ENDLESS, SPRING and SHE DIES TOMORROW.

In 2017, Brewer made her feature film debut in Hedgehog and Flesh and Blood, and began starring in the Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale as Janine Lindo, for The Handmaid’s Tale’s fourth season, Brewer received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Brewer had leading roles in the 2018 psychological horror films Braid and Cam. This was followed in 2019 by supporting film roles in Captive State and Hustlers. She also appeared in the independent film Now Is Everything. In 2021, she starred opposite Keean Johnson in the Hulu romantic comedy The Ultimate Playlist of Noise. She had roles in Separation that year and Space Oddity in 2022.

In 2023, Brewer made her West End stage debut as Sally Bowles in the London production of Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre.


Peyton Kennedy is a Canadian actress best known for her role as Betty Nelson on the ABC television drama series Grey’s Anatomy (2018–2019). She is also known for her film roles in The Captive (2014), American Fable (2016), and Lavender (2016). She played Kate Messner in the Netflix series, Everything Sucks! (2018), where she played a 15-year-old girl who is trying to figure out her sexuality.
