Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to inform you that Trump’s travel ban has already adversely affected our students. One of our doctoral students, Saira Rafiee, was denied re-entry into the United States yesterday under Trump’s new order.  She is an Iranian national, on an F-1 visa, who traveled home for the winter break. When she attempted to return, she was held in detention for 18 hours at the Abu Dhabi airport before being sent back to Tehran.

President Robinson, Provost Connolly, Barbara Bowen, as well as many others are working to apply pressure for Saira’s release.

Please let me know if you are aware of any of our other students who may have been impacted. Please also consider signing this petition protesting the executive order: https://notoimmigrationban.com/.

I just signed.
