Filipino Leaders Vow to Protect Immigrants on Impending Deportations

The city that never sleeps may not sleep on your rights as immigrants, even if you are undocumented. This was the assuring message of the office of Mayor de Blasio to the City’s Filipino community wary of the impending crackdown of undocumented immigrants as avowed by the Trump administration.

Filipino leaders here are bracing for the inevitable. Consul General Tess Dizon de Vega had repeatedly assured the community of the Consulate’s legal assistance and support times of distress. The 2010 US Census has placed Filipino immigrants to have reached 3.75 million where about 7.6 percent may be on undocumented status.
