ANNOUNCEMENT: HollyShorts Film Festival Getting Ready to Take Off in April


The HollyShorts Film Festival is an Oscar®-Qualifying short film festival based in Los Angeles. Since its establishment in 2005, HollyShorts has grown into a premier platform for independent filmmakers worldwide. As an Academy Awards-qualifying festival in four categories, HollyShorts presents a diverse selection of innovative short films across various genres.
 

 

2024 Film reviews are in the works. Last year, Los Angeles’ premiere film festival HollyShorts became a quadruple OSCAR-qualifying festival with the welcome addition of the OSCAR-qualifying award for documentary shorts, alongside two for live action and one for animated shorts. Now in its 20th year, this well-loved festival will be back on August 4 with a twenty-foot red carpet at the foot of the steps of the Dolby Theatre where the Academy Awards are held.

OSCAR winners’ Riz Ahmed, Aniel Karia, Guy Nattiv, Ben Proudfoot, Travon Free, Ross White, Tom Berkley, Chris Overton, Rachel Shenton, Kim Magnusson are just some of this prestigious festival’s past winners.

Previous jury members include Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sam Worthington, Zoe Deutch, Bryan Cranston, Gemma Arterton and Blair Underwood. Their esteemed 2024 jury will be announced in July.

HollyShorts brings together top creators, industry leaders, and companies and has launched many filmmakers into the next stages of their careers. HollyShorts, regular on MovieMaker Magazine’s “Top 50 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee list”, also engages its community and spotlights short films year-round through monthly screenings, panels, and networking events.

HollyShorts Film Festival will take place in-person between August 4-18th, 2024 at TCL Chinese 6 Theatres, with the annual Awards Gala set to take place on August 18th, 2024. Tickets are available at Hollyshorts.com
