TO CALM THE PIG INSIDE – Nominated for Best Short Documentary Award by the International Documentary Association

FilmmakerJ oanna Vasquez Arong weaves together myths to try to understand how the people cope with devastation and trauma in the aftermath of a typhoon. A girl’s voice divulges bits and pieces of her own memory of her grandmother and mother to tie in the experiences she felt visiting this ravaged town.

Premiered at the 2020 Slamdance Film Festival. Received the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary Shorts (Oscar®-qualifying prize) and went on to collect a series of awards and prestigious accolades including Best Documentary Short at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival 2020. TO CALM THE PIG INSIDE is screening in competition at IDFA 2020 in Amsterdam.
