SUBSERVIENCE (2024) Film Review – Audiences Should Know This Movie Can Scare the Bejesus Out of Them

The clocked running time for SUBSERVIENCE is 95 minutes. The early part of Director S.K. Dale’s movie will prime audiences for the last 30 to 40 minutes that goe like this: A blistering, edge-of-the-seat, sci-fi-like-horror-thriller-supreme with sophisticated razzle-dazzle embedded in terrifying scenes and moments could have audiences hiding behind their popcorn boxes if they aren’t hiding behind whatever the nearest appurtenance they can get their hands on – especially if they’re watching at home.

Principal Cast & Streaming Sites: Megan Fox, Alice, who wants more than her creators planned for her; Michele Morrone as Nick the husband who purchased a version of Alice for his wife, Maggie, played by Madeline Zima. Matilda Firth plays the youngest daughter of the couple. Atanas Srevrev is Nick’s buddy (who later viciously turns on Nick). SUBESERVIENCE is streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Fandango at Home, Paramount+, Certified Fresh Movie, and most popular streaming movie sites.

A peaceful hospital scene with Alice the Android (played by Megan Fox). Everyone is waiting on the status of mom. Things later go berserk-o.

The last 30 to 40 minutes include labyrinth plot twists and turns – and the body count grows. Yet, there is no gratuitous gore though there is bloodshed. Writers Will Honley and April Maguire are cinematically meticulous and scrupulous with their story telling. They know how to scare the bejesus out of audiences without overindulging in gory makeup and special effects too often used by horror film makers in particular to make up for a lack of imagination regarding their story telling.

The CGI is minimal. Even more, this is film can also be seen as an action-adventure with social and political overtones reflecting pressing issues making big breaking news headlines about the stirrings in American life and institutions.

The trailer below does a decent job tipping off to audiences the suspense building.

The acting across the board is superb. Brief Synopsis: Megan Fox’s as the android Alice has been created to take care of any family and home. Looking for help with the housework, Nick the husband purchases an Alice android after his wife becomes near fatally sick. Alice – eerily similar to Skynet in THE TERMINATOR (1984) – subsequently becomes self-aware and wants everything her new family has, especially Nick, carnally. And she’s ready to break bones and slash flesh to get it.
